Temporarily Disable Avast Antivirus
Sometimes you may need to temporarily disable Avast to install certain software or troubleshoot issues. Here's the safe way to do it.
Disable from System Tray
- Right-click the Avast icon in the system tray
- Hover over "Avast shields control"
- Choose a duration: 10 minutes, 1 hour, Until computer restart, or Permanently
Disable from Avast Interface
Open Avast, go to Protection > Core Shields. Toggle any shield you want to disable. You'll be prompted to select a duration.
Re-enable Avast
If you set a time duration, Avast will re-enable automatically. To re-enable manually, right-click the system tray icon and click "Enable all shields".
